Congratulations to Chute Athletic FC who recently beat Lee Filters FC 2-1 in the Chris Price Cup Final.
The CHUTE Sainsbury's SPORT RELIEF MILE on March 25th was a resounding success with over 100 people, 1 horse and numerous dogs completing 1, 3 or 6 miles. Marcus Doyle completed the 6 miles in 42 mins 47, followed by Tim Harker in 51:53 with David Brown and Simon Falla equal at 61:23. Rory Guinness was the fastest 3-miler on 27:35, while Rory Burden followed on 29:00 and David Pike on 30:45.
A new Team Rector has been appointed for the Savernake Team, which includes Chute. Michael McHugh has accepted the post. He will need to work out his notice in his current parishes but will be licensed to the Team on 5th July in Great Bedwyn, where he will be living. We look forward to Michael's Ministry here with us!

FC Chute
As at 11th March, Chute Athletic were top of the table (30 points from 12 games), and Chute Sports were 5th (25 from 13), both in Division 2 of the local Sunday League - the 2nd, 3rd and 4th treams have all played 16 games! Keep it up guys.
 
Clergy vacancy

A new Team Rector, the Revd. Michael McHugh, has now been appointed and will shortly be joining the team, hopefully in June. Following that, plans will be developed to additionally recruit a Team Vicar, working with Michael, within the Savernake Ministry Team, which includes Chute and Chute Forest

Cross Keys - Best Country Pub
The Cross Keys Inn, Upper Chute, which was the 2010 Best Country Pub is again highlighted in the 2011 Good Pub Guide and Good Beer Guides. Well done George and all his staff!
 
Wiltshire Council
With the current government spending cuts, Wiltshire Council has achieved £44m savings with 400 redundancies of which 270 have already gone. Eight offices have been consolidated into four, which consist of Salisbury, Chippenham, Trowbridge and Devizes. There will be no increase in Council Tax for 2011/12. Plastic Bottles and Cardboard will be recycled from October 2011 and Black Bins with Blue Tops will be provided. An optional free of charge garden waste will be offered from February 2012. £5m has been allocated to improve Broadband in Wiltshire.
