Wilts Police and Police Authority are holding a live public online chat on Monday 23 January 2012 from 7pm - 8pm With Deputy Chief Constable Patrick Geenty, Assistant Chief Constable Mike Veale and WPA Chairman Chris Hoare available to answer questions. This is a good chance to submit questions directly on any subject and to have your say on what the Force should be doing in the coming year. Full details at www.wiltshire.police.uk
Wilts Council has announced the planned temporary closure of (1) part of Biddesden Road from its junction with Biddesden Cross to Forest Lane, Chute Forest and (2) Dummer Lane from its junction with Malthouse Lane to its junction with Chute Causeway. Both closures are to carry out carriageway patching works and will take place between January and March 2012. Closures are for a period of 1 to 4 days. Exact dates are not known.
Wilts Council has ordered that part of Chute Byway 34 (Chantry Lane) should be closed to all motorised vehicles.

As at 15th January, Chute Athletic were top of the table, and Chute Sports were 6th, both in Division 2 of the local Sunday League - keep it up guys!

Recruitment continues for a new Team Rector and, in due course, also a new Team Vicar; advertisements for the Team Rector post were in the Church Times on 6th and 13th January. We'll keep you posted as and when there's any further news.

Cross Keys - Best Country Pub
The Cross Keys Inn, Upper Chute, which was the 2010 Best Country Pub is again highlighted in the 2011 Good Pub Guide and Good Beer Guides. Well done George and all his staff!
 
Wiltshire Council
With the current government spending cuts, Wiltshire Council has achieved £44m savings with 400 redundancies of which 270 have already gone. Eight offices have been consolidated into four, which consist of Salisbury, Chippenham, Trowbridge and Devizes. There will be no increase in Council Tax for 2011/12. Plastic Bottles and Cardboard will be recycled from October 2011 and Black Bins with Blue Tops will be provided. An optional free of charge garden waste will be offered from February 2012. £5m has been allocated to improve Broadband in Wiltshire.
